| Here's a real nice Full Box of .50 Caliber Gallager Carbine Cartridges in Great Shape ! All the print on top of the box is nicely legible, saying "10 Poultney's Metallic Cartridges - Patented December 15th, 1863, 12 Caps, For Gallager's Breech Loading Carbine 50 Calibre." When I got this box it was sealed in plastic, and I could not tell for sure if it had been opened or not. I removed the plastic, and could see that one end of the box had been opened, and the caps removed, though all Ten of the cartridges are still there. After photographing it, I resealed the box in a tight shrink wrap, and it is ready to safely display. Could easily be unwrapped again if you wish. It's an original unmarked pasteboard sleeve, in good condition, with a minor paper tear on the top, but is very sound otherwise, and still containing all seven original rounds. It appears end may have been opened at one time, but entire box is now sealed in cellophane. Here's a great little item, if you have one of those folding trigger Pinfire Pistols ! It's a Complete Box of "50 Cartouches Lefaucheux" 7mm Pinfire Cartridges. Box was opened at one time, but all rounds are still intact. Measures 3.25 inches long by 1.25 inches wide, and about an inch tall. Green box, with brown paper label that wrapped completely around the box from end to end. Has been wrapped in cellophane to protect it, but easily removed if desired. NEW ! Here's a rare but excellent Eley's Needle Fire Cartridge ! This one's in great shape, the paper still very fine, and a readable Eley patent on the blue base. Bullet is a dull lead color and still very tight in the paper. The Needle Fire guns and cartridges became standard issue for the Prussian Army, beginning in 1841, and were used thru the American Civil War, until about 1872. The first guns and the cartridges were invented by Nikolas von Dreyse, and the cartridges are often called a "Von Dreyse". There were also several pistols designed for the Needle-Guns. The bullet on this one mics out right at .410, or .41 caliber. An unusual cartridge, in excellent condition, that will display great !

| Here's a Buff Color Example of the .58 Williams Cleaner Cartridge Type III ! Nice cartridge with good paper, that though a little loose, still contains all the powder. You can gently feel the zinc washer thru the paper too. Nose looks a little pointed, and not sure but it may have been re-tied. Got this from an old cartridge collector, and it comes in coin tube he had it in, with his label. | Here's another fully intact, Dug 12mm Pinfire Pistol Cartridge ! Like the other from the same location, it was never cleaned, but shows a good green patina on the case, with mostly white patina on the bullet itself. Has the still raised pin, that shows it isn't a put-together, but a dropped cartridge, possibly in the heat of battle, that's never been fired. Also recovered at Prairie Grove, Arkansas, where for sure the 2nd Kansas Cavalry, and the 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry, were carrying the Lefaucheux Pistols. $29 plus shipping

| Here's a full box of 12mm Pinfire Pistol Cartridges ! It's the full pak, 25 count, and although this one has been opened, all 25 cartridges are still intact. This is the green box, with black print saying, "Fabrique, De Balles Et Cartouches, 25 Revolvers Cartouches Lefaucheux, de 12millimetres." Box has the usual scuffs and scrapes, but still in very good shape. I photographed the cartridges, then heat sealed the box in cellophane, but it can be easily removed if desired. | Let me begin by saying the obvious, these are not Civil War era cartridges. What they are though, is an affordable box of early .22 rimfire cartridges, to display with your Civil War Period .22 Revolver ! With an original box of Civil War Period .22 cartridges costing in the thousands of dollars, when they can be found, most folks will seek a more economical alternative. Here is one ! This is a full box of ca. 1920s, Remington-UMC .22 short cartridges. The box still has good red/green color on the top, though the back is quite faded. It was opened at one time, but all 50 of the original cartridges are still present in good condition. After photographing it, I sealed it in cellophane to prevent accidental spill, but could easily be removed if desired. It measures just 2.375 inches long, by 1.25 inches wide, and .875 inches tall. A nice displaying old box of .22 short, that would display well with your Smith & Wesson No. 1, or .22 Pocket Manhattan, or other Civil War Period .22 !
